SunCommon’s Referral Rewards program is available to our customers. To get in on this deal, sign up your friends, family and neighbors in one of these four ways:
Online – Enter emails of friends you think would be interested in checking out solar. They will receive an email invitation from us.
MySunCommon.com – join and create a profile page to share your story and share your unique link with friends
By phone –
Call our Solar Advisors at 802-882-8170 (Vermont) or 866-452-7652 (New York) to share the name & contact information of the friend you want to refer.
Reach out to the Solar Home Advisor that you worked with during your own solar installation to refer a friend.
Encourage your friend to call us directly. Please make sure they let us know that you sent them our way!
In person – When you are working with a Community Solar Organizer, Solar Home Advisor, Solar Guide, or any member of the SunCommon team, share the name & contact information of the friend you want to refer.
How does the referral process work?
If you submit an email address for friends who you think would be interested in checking out solar, they will receive an email invitation from us to check out solar. If your friends contact us directly about going solar, make sure they mention your name when they first talk to us. You will be eligible for payment once your referrals have signed an agreement and their system’s installation has been completed. Referral rewards vary by number of referrals you have referred. Once you are eligible for payment, we will send you an email notification letting you know that a check is on the way.
How do I know when a friend I’ve referred has gone solar?
Once one of your referrals has signed an agreement to go solar with SunCommon, you will receive an email notification from us letting you know that one of your referrals is In Progress. Make sure to congratulate them on joining the solar revolution or be sure to check in throughout their installation process to be a great resource for them. Once their new system’s installation has been completed, you will receive another email from us letting you know that a referral check is on its way!
What should I say when I share?

What’s the best way to share and keep earning?
You can start sharing by creating a profile on mysuncommon.com and sharing your story through your unique link. Social media is also a great way to share – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or wherever you socialize online. Direct messages are great too, literally just sending an email to the people you think might be interested. You’re giving a gift, so why not? If I am not a customer of SunCommon yet, can I still participate in the Referral program?
As a future SunCommon customer, you can participate in the Referral program by referring friends to SunCommon. If those friends go solar with us, you will earn credit for those referrals. When you do decide that it is time to go solar with us, you can utilize those earned credits towards the cost of your new solar system! If, for example, you referred three friends that went solar with us before you were a SunCommon customer, you will have a $600 credit with us towards a new solar system!
Who can I refer?
You can refer any friend, family member, neighbor, co-worker, or person you meet in the grocery store that is not currently a customer of SunCommon.
When and how will I get paid?
You will be eligible for your payment once your referral’s installation is complete.
Once you’re eligible for your referral payment, you will receive an email letting you know that one of your referrals has gone solar and a check is on its way to you!
Be on the lookout: Once you are notified, keep an eye out for a check from SunCommon in your mailbox.
If the friend I referred does not end up going solar right away, will the record of my referral expire?
If you have referred a friend who does not end up going solar right away, your referral will last for one year. You will be notified when one of your referrals is about to expire, to give you the chance to reach back out to that friend and encourage them to check out solar. If a referral expires, you still have the chance to refer that friend again in the future. Just make sure they mention that you referred them when they sign up to check out solar with us. If they end up going solar, you will be rewarded for that referral.
Can I receive a referral reward more than once for the same friend?
We only pay a referral rewards for unique referrals. This means if you refer a friend who purchases multiple solar products, you will receive one referral reward for that customer. Also, if you refer a friend who goes solar with us and you are paid for that referral, you will not be eligible for an additional referral reward for that friend if they purchase additional products from us in the future.
What happens if my friend cancels their contract?
If your friend cancels their agreement to go solar, you will no longer be eligible to earn a reward for that referral. In order to earn the full referral reward, your friend must fulfill their agreement and have their system installed.
Who is eligible for referral payment?
You are eligible for payment if you are currently a SunCommon customer. You are considered a SunCommon customer once you have signed an agreement to go solar with SunCommon. Once a customer, always a customer! If you are not yet a SunCommon customer, you will receive credit by referring friends. Once you are ready to go solar with us, you can apply your credit to your new system.
How much can I earn?
For your first referral that goes solar with us, you will earn $100. For each additional friend who goes solar with us, we’ll increase your reward to up to $500 per lead for referrers with five or more referrals who have gone solar. Where can I find my referral link?
Your unique referral link can be found on your profile page when you sign up and log in to mysuncommon.com. When you share this link with your friends and neighbors, it will direct them to your profile page where they can sign up as a referral.
If you can’t find your welcome email or link, you can contact us with the email address you signed up with, and we can send it to you.
My referral forgot to use my name. Is there a way to track this referral to me?
We’re unable to track referrals back to you if they did not use your name at the time they signed up to check out solar, either through email or by calling. Please make sure that your referrals tell us your name when they contact us about solar, so that you get the reward you deserve for referring them!
What will happen to the referrals I made that went solar already through the Solar Friends program?
The increased referral incentive applies only to referrals that are new to SunCommon after the Referral Program launch date of March 25, 2019. However, if you have referred customers to SunCommon who have gone solar with us in the past, your next referral payment will reflect the number of referrals you have previously made (i.e. if you have previously referred two customers who have gone solar, your next referral will be worth $300).
