SunCommon knows solar
We are breaking down barriers to clean energy every day by making it easy and affordable for all New Yorkers to go solar. We’ve been serving the Hudson Valley for 15 years, and our 1700 happy customers there can attest to our high quality products and the integrity we bring to our work. With thousands of installations across New York and Vermont, including our own net positive Rhinebeck facility, we have experience like no other.

What Does Solar Look Like?
From Hudson Valley roots to the regional leader in solar
Hudson Solar first opened in 2003. Jeff Irish, an engineer and business manager, and his wife, Mary, wanted to offer their neighbors a clean energy alternative. Their first installation was on their own home, and over the next fifteen years, they helped 1,600 Hudson Valley homes, schools, government agencies, and businesses go solar. Among these were Vassar College, Excelsior College, the U.S. Army, and commercial properties owned by Arnoff, Kiss My Face, Selux, Healey Dealerships, and Garelick Farms.
In 2018, Hudson Solar merged with SunCommon.
Now a regional force, we’re able to present more options to help Hudson Valley residents get in on solar and speed the region’s transition to clean energy. We maintain vast local know-how (we’ve got town electrical permitting down!), high quality workmanship, and our connection to place. And at a regional scale, we can now more easily innovate to create diverse clean energy solutions, such as Community Solar Arrays, Home Energy Storage, Solar Canopies, and our no-upfront cost financing.
