Join the Community Solar Canopy at GMP
Green Mountain Power and SunCommon are teaming up on an innovative new project: a parking lot Canopy to help GMP employees and customers access solar.
Two B Corps using business as a force for good.
This CSA is full.
How does it work?
This Solar Canopy will be constructed in the parking lot at GMP’s headquarters in Colchester. It will provide power to members who purchase a share of the panels, shade for the lot, and free electric car charging to GMP employees during the day.
Members of Community Solar Arrays (CSAs) like this one offset their electricity usage with solar credits through their utility — so as long as your home runs on GMP power, you’re eligible to join.
SunCommon offers no-upfront-cost financing with fixed monthly payments, which can save you 10% on your electricity costs in year one — and even more as utility rates rise in the coming years.
Alternatively, we offer an 8% discount on cash purchases, and with either purchase option, you’ll be eligible for a federal tax credit worth 30% of the total cost.
The Canopy Array
The 207kW steel canopy structure will cover 38 parking spots, contain 525 panels, and provide power to 25-30 households. Construction will begin in the fall, and the array will be switched on and producing power for its members by the end of this year.
