What's the Story - Rooftop Solar

What makes rooftop solar stand the test of time?

Rooftop solar has always been our bread and butter. It’s a great option for many customers because putting panels up on the roof keeps your yard free of equipment and takes advantage of otherwise unused space. With rooftop solar from SunCommon, you get the best warranty in the business: 25 years on power, parts, and labor, and a 10-year workmanship warranty. Plus, as always, we offer rooftop solar at no upfront cost and fixed monthly solar payments that can meet or beat your current electric bill. (Note: it doesn’t work for every roof, but we’ve got other options for you!)

“The panels look great on the roof, they blend right in.”

Marcy Cleveland

CUSTOMER SINCE 2020

Marcy Cleveland

“Solar for me is huge. I’ve always wanted to have solar panels. I actually didn’t think it was within my financial means to have them until I sat down with Craig [from SunCommon] and we went through the numbers. Within seven years, these things are going to be totally paid off.”

A happy solar homeowner

CUSTOMER SINCE 2014

Sharon Comeau

“We’ve made a lot of upgrades to our home over the years, and going solar was by far the easiest. All we had to do was say ‘Go.’ There was absolutely no inconvenience for us. Now we’re paying the same or less every month for solar that we used to pay to the utility. But of course now our money is going toward our very own solar system.”

CUSTOMER SINCE 2016

David Pistilli

“It seemed crazy to me that our roof absorbs the sun everyday but wasn’t capturing it – it was just there and not being used.”

CUSTOMER SINCE 2021

Josh Kelman

“Suncommon installed 9.36 kW of photovoltaic panels on my roof. They use the best materials and slickest fasteners and had them up and cleaned up in 2 days.”

South Burlington Homeowner with Rooftop Solar

CUSTOMER SINCE 2016

Nick Andrews

“SunCommon did a really fine job for us. We raised our children to appreciate gardens, open land, and nature. I don’t want to see that all disappear in my lifetime. That was a big reason for putting the panels on. Why not use the sun to electrify your home? You don’t lose anything on it.”

Susan Coté in Williston, Vermont and her rooftop solar

CUSTOMER SINCE 2018

Susan Coté

“We went solar to reduce our carbon footprint and become greener. We found that the finances made sense, which we were thrilled about.”

CUSTOMER SINCE 2015

Bridgette Remington

“When we pulled into the driveway after the solar installation my two-year-old son said “Mama! Roof! Solar panels making power.” Music to my ears!”

CUSTOMER SINCE 2016

Faith Beiler

“I had talked to SunCommon years ago but now, the newer more powerful panels were able to provide enough power on my roof despite a nearby tree’s shadow.”

CUSTOMER SINCE 2015

Liz Hinckley

“Going solar was a great decision. I’m really happy with my solar array. It is sustainable and allows me to be more self-sufficient and energy independent.”

What's the Story - Craig Hightower

CUSTOMER SINCE 2022

Craig Hightower

“The goal here is net-zero, so all of the energy consumed here I want to come from the roof. This is just a smarter way to buy energy. Every morning when I come out now, I look back, and I go, ‘yup.’”

CUSTOMER SINCE 2015

Elizabeth Wagner

“It’s a statement for us to have solar panels on our roof, that we want clean energy and we don’t want it from somewhere else, we want it in our backyard. It shows that if everyone does a little bit we can make a difference.”

Weatherize Your home

Worried about snow on your rooftop solar panels?

We sometimes hear from customers worried that snow on their solar panels could interrupt solar production, but our engineering team designs solar systems with Northeast winters in mind. Production will naturally decrease in the winter and overproduce in the summer, balancing out over the course of the year thanks to net metering. Any snow on your panels usually slides right off when the sun comes out, but it turns out there’s so little sunshine on those short winter days anyway that snow cover barely makes a dent in your overall production. Read more about that here.
