Wendy’s Advice: Don’t Put it Off!
Wendy’s Advice: Don’t Put it Off!
Do you ever have a big to-do that sits and sits on your list because it seems so overwhelming? Wendy did, and she wishes she had tackled it sooner now that she knows that it was easier than she imagined to go solar.
She described what so many of us experience in so many ways: putting off a task that felt insurmountable only to find that it was much easier than she expected. She always wanted to go solar to do her part for the environment though, so she eventually took the leap.
Wendy’s research helped her understand that solar can be a really sound financial decision when you take several factors into account: tax credits, good financing, and the loss of your electric bill. She also likes that her money now goes to something she will own instead of just a monthly bill.
And based on her successful solar panel install, Wendy and her family have been on a journey to electrify their home. They added heat pumps to the mix, seriously reducing the need to purchase costly propane at an unpredictable price. They also switched to an electric vehicle and added a charger for the car. And now they are looking into an additional heat pump for hot water. She is feeling really great about the example her family has set for their three kids!
But that’s not all, folks! Wendy’s family owns a rental property in the Northeast Kingdom that includes a farmhouse, an apartment above the barn, and a guest cottage. She estimated that the first year they owned it, the heating costs topped $10,000! But with the addition of solar and heat pumps, they’ve reduced that by more than half and pay no electric bill whatsoever.
Wendy has noticed a shift in thinking about their electricity use at home as well. While she always tried to limit her use for environmental reasons, now she is more committed to keeping her usage below her solar generation.
She also appreciated the professionalism of SunCommon’s crews. She mentioned that they were always laughing and smiling, but that they also got right down to work. (And they played cool music, according to my source!) The installation for her rental property happened in the winter, and despite the challenging weather conditions, the crew kept working with a smile.
In summary, Wendy’s advice boils down to this:
Review your utility bills to help you understand what you’re paying. Then just call SunCommon. There’s no reason to drag your feet. We can walk you through your options including any incentives, financing options, the return on your investment, and all your utility savings.
