The Warehouse Support position works with the rest of the Warehouse team. Responsibilities include picking inventory from our warehouse and packing the job trailers for solar installations.  This position is also responsible for delivering job trailers to customer homes and delivering materials to job sites. This position represents our company in a professional and cost effective manner aiming at increasing profitability and customer satisfaction.  After solar installations are complete and the trailers return, this individual cleans and re-stocks the trailer. The ideal candidate is able to work efficiently and independently, with an eye for process improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains safe and clean working condition of vehicles and trailers

Lead Ground Mount Operator – VT

Job Description

As part of SunCommon’s growing Operations team, the Lead Ground Mount Operator will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and high quality installation work of ground-mounted solar arrays. They will lead the layout and execution of ground screws and racking across Vermont. The position requires deep experience of equipment operation, soil types, and all the challenges that come with digging in the Green Mountain State. The Lead will oversee a crew of two, and will be responsible for reporting job progress through photos, phone, and email back to the office.

Most communication happens during normal work hours Monday-Friday, but we are there for our customers to follow up when they need us – which may include nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate an excavator mounted with a mast for ground screws and drilling

Warehouse Manager – VT

Job Description

SunCommon operates a 6000 ft2 warehouse to support Vermont-wide solar installations.  The warehouse space and processes are in constant development towards efficiency and cost savings. SunCommon’s Warehouse Manager will direct all activities in the facility necessary to operate and support an efficient warehouse. This person will perform a variety of management, administrative as well as physical functions to ensure the timely and accurate loading and unloading of commodities that transit the warehouse. This position will collaboratively work with the team to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and controls are maintained within the warehouse.

We’re looking for someone who can quickly adapt to the solar industry and be able to make informed decisions on product changes and issues that arise in the installation process.  The Warehouse Manager will be the first point of contact for installation crews who need different/additional/replacement parts, and should be able to act quickly and provide competent solutions to these issues.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Manages organization and layout of warehouse space, warehouse outdoor space, and waste management, heavily focusing on efficiency.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

This position sits within our digital marketing team; however, the Email and Content Manager is solely responsible for taking email campaigns from creative concept through content production to execution.  In addition, the Manager attracts new customers through search engine optimized landing pages and posts, creating content that meets people where they are at.

Policy & Project Development Manager – VT

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Governmental policy has been central to our company since inception, juggled among many other core activities.  Having reached our current scale, this position will focus on the important business priority of clean energy policy development, government relations and utility affairs – to comprise 50-75% of the work. The remaining capacity will be hands-on project development for net-metered solar projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Reporting to SunCommon Co-President, James Moore, this position is responsible for:

  • Developing sound public policy to create market solutions to climate change.
  • Maintaining productive working relationships with legislators, regulators, members of the Governor’s administration, and utility representatives.
  • Representing SunCommon at proceedings of the Public Utilities Commission, Public Service Department and legislature.
  • Representing SunCommon at state, regional and national trade associations.
  • Working with our commercial business development team to identify and secure ideal sites for 200-700 kW solar projects for third party investment or ownership by SunCommon.
  • Leading the project development for the selected projects to include permitting, financing and all other project due diligence.

This senior leadership position will direct Residential and Small Commercial operations in Vermont and western New York – overseeing our Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Installation, and O&M Teams. Solar Community Organizer – VT

Job Description

This position is based in Chittenden or Franklin counties.  SunCommon’s Solar Community Organizers are responsible for our community outreach and education program work. The Organizers create community campaigns using a number of marketing and organizing tools and coordinating efforts that bring in Marketing team specialists (digital and media), sales staff, and canvass leads.

The Organizer begins by working with community leaders to identify and to engage their communities around solar and understand how to reach community members whether through event work, canvassing, working with existing customers, digital ad work, online forums, social media, and the list goes on. The Organizer builds a network of local solar fans, excited about significantly increasing solar in their community and excited to work with us to make it happen, in addition to building a repertoire of tools to engage potential solar customers. Moving forward, the Organizer works with this growing network of solar evangelists to launch a local outreach.

The local organizing event work involves anything and everything—from hosting a community solar workshop, creating a July 4 parade float, curating a solar-inspired art gallery, tabling at the local farmers’ market, bringing our solar powered bouncy house to a community event, or creating a community challenge in conjunction with the Select Board.

Another part of the Organizer’s role is work with our customers. After each new homeowner goes solar, a Solar Orientation is scheduled with the local Organizer to walk-through the homeowner’s new solar system, to help them understand how to read their new electric bill and answer other questions, and to introduce them to SunCommon’s organizing program and find ways for them to be involved and recommend solar to their friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers.

In addition the Organizer works with local media to keep solar and SunCommon in the news, and contributes to our social media presence.

All in all, SunCommon’s team of organizers is responsible for generating the homeowner interest that keeps the rest of the SunCommon team busy assessing homes, designing systems, and selling solar.
