Rochester Community Solar Array in Process

Join a Local Community Solar Array!

SunCommon’s Community Solar Arrays (CSA) in Ontario, Monroe, and Wayne Counties have allowed about 600 of your neighbors to go solar — and there’s an opportunity for you to join, too!

When you join a CSA, you’ll help power your community and support clean energy production, all while saving money. The main requirement is that you currently receive electricity from Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E). Keep reading to learn more!

No Roof.

Your solar power comes from the shared, community array – not panels at your home.  Clean, local energy, without a home construction project.

No Commitment.

Membership is a 3-month rolling commitment.  Need out, no problem.  Let us know, and you’re out in 90 days.

No Upfront Cost.

No big check to write, no financing to commit to.  Just a monthly subscription – and 10%* savings to boot!

Why SunCommon?

Why SunCommon?

We’re a company that cares about the people and places that surround us. We’re a Certified B Corp in New York State and a Public Benefit Corporation. It’s written into our business plan to consider a triple bottom line: people and planet, right along with profit. We use our business as a force for good, supporting our community and our environment, instead of just thinking about dollars. We also partner with other local businesses that share our values and help our communities thrive.

We are breaking down barriers to clean energy every day by making it easy and affordable for all New Yorkers to go solar. We’re building this array because we believe in vibrant communities.

Here’s How Community Solar Works

Members of a CSA use solar credits produced by that array to reduce or eliminate their utility bill. The only requirement to become a member of a Community Solar Array is that you live within the same utility load zone as the array. Since most utility load zones span counties, towns, and zip codes, our Solar Advisors will help determine which array you would belong to.
