Over the past few months, our world experienced the overwhelming confluence of a health crisis, economic crisis, and social crisis, alongside the ongoing climate crisis. At SunCommon, we believe that everyone has the right to a healthy environment and a brighter future – and the first step towards that future is through clean, renewable energy. Recent stay-at-home measures have contributed to improved water quality, lower carbon emissions, and a resurgence of wildlife around the world.
So, as we returned to work, we understood the benefits of re-powering our world with renewable energy. We’ve seen a version of the world that could be, if we balanced global industries with environmental sustainability. This is our once in a lifetime opportunity to choose a better way forward.
We’ve returned to work with a renewed sense of possibility and responsibility. We’re ready to “power with a purpose”, and we offer this message as an opportunity to look forward instead of looking back. Together, we can set a new energy intention and re-power our world to move it forward in an impactful way. Our core beliefs are more important than ever, and to achieve our vision we must choose a better way forward. Ready to get started?
Our triple bottom line of “People, Planet, Prosperity” has been a critical reference point as we prioritize moving forward in an impactful way:
People
Environmental and racial justice are fundamentally linked. The Coronavirus has exposed the discrepancy in health statistics of White and Black Americans that has existed for decades. It’s a powerful reminder that the systems of power and privilege that rob vulnerable communities of their humanity are the same ones destroying our environment.

Planet
We’re getting a glimpse of what our world could be if our industries were in better balance with our environment. Meanwhile, important legislative protections are being dismantled by our government. This isn’t the time to make it easy for our biggest polluters to increase the damage they’re causing. It’s an opportunity to hold them accountable and move them forward in a more sustainable direction.
Prosperity
The slowdown has thrown established industries into crisis and prompted thoughts about how we organize our economy. For the first time in 130 years, America’s consumption of renewable energy has surpassed coal! The stage is set to transform our grid and move towards clean energy, which would create millions of new jobs across the country.
