Meet David: He’s Doing What He Can for the Environment
A long time ago, David had a co-worker who was living off the grid, and he has been fascinated by the idea of it ever since. He often dreamed of having his own slice of off-grid living, way off in the woods, and has even looked at properties over time. However in recent years, he’s started to expand his thinking on the topic. “Why does it matter if I’m connected to the grid?” he asks. “As long as I’m using clean, renewable energy, he posited, who cares if there’s a wire between me and the electric company?”
Now David is living his ‘dream 2.0’ with a gorgeous solar array on his roof and four Enphase batteries to keep him running in all types of weather. His system provides off-grid-style energy independence with the convenience of knowing he can still pull power from the grid if it’s necessary.
It’s clear that David’s interest in going solar is motivated by his environmental concerns, but he mentioned that it was a financial decision as well. He believes we should all do what we can for the environment. For him, that means generating and storing clean energy from the sun to power his home.
Why did he choose SunCommon to build his system? David cited the flexibility and positive outlook of his advisor. He noted that he was having trouble finding an electrician to help with the installation of his heat pump mini-splits, and SunCommon was able to offer assistance while we were working on his solar array. He also noted that during the process of getting quotes that his solar advisor declined to say anything negative about the competitive bid- an attitude that he really appreciated.
And while he still loves the idea of being off-grid, he’s decided that the real goal is to be as close to net zero as possible. His advice: get as many panels as you possibly can! The more clean energy you can produce for your home, the better.
With his panels, energy storage, heat pumps and EV, it seems that David is living his dream after all.
