The Latest Addition to the Essex Resort: The Farmhouse at Sunset Pond
In recent years the area around The Essex Resort & Spa and The Essex Experience has evolved into a forward-thinking spot highlighting local eateries, unique retail experiences, great spots for entertainment, and a luxury inn and spa. The latest addition to the area is the Farmhouse at Sunset Pond, a stand-alone venue for weddings and other events on the property of the Essex Resort & Spa. The Farmhouse came to be so that people who are planning a large event can have accommodations on the same site.
The owner of these properties has centered sustainability as one of his driving factors for his business operations. Based on the successful addition of rooftop solar at the Essex Experience, they are now adding panels on the Inn at Essex property, starting with the Farmhouse at Sunset Pond. Creating a green, sustainable venue makes it a perfect locale for values-based events- everything from family gatherings to corporate parties.
One big plus to working with SunCommon, according to the operations director at the Inn, was the professionalism of our project managers and crews on-site. Alan, who spearheaded the project on behalf of the Essex, was impressed with how everyone understood that the Inn has guests on property that can’t have their experience interrupted or inconvenienced. In addition to keeping a clean and respectful worksite, the project finished not just on time but ahead of schedule! Staying on schedule was crucial, as the Farmhouse had events scheduled that could not be disrupted.
And the Farmhouse at Sunset Pond is only one phase of The Inn at Essex’s plans for solar energy. They’ll be adding some additional rooftop solar as well as a parking canopy in the future. Once completed, their solar will cover 75% of their energy costs- an incredible feat for such a large, energy-dependent business.
