We’re so excited to introduce Mike McCarthy as SunCommon’s new President, and Jake Stocker as our new Vice President of Operations. Mike and Jake have new roles, but are not new to SunCommon- they’re both industry pros with many years working as part of the SunCommon team.

Mike is a solar expert who has been getting people excited about solar since 2013, when he helped SunCommon expand to new regions and launch an innovative community solar program as a Solar Organizer. Since 2016, Mike has used his knowledge to help many businesses, schools and farms across Vermont and New York go solar, guiding them through siting, financing, and installation of large-scale solar.

Jake is our operations guru, keeping the trains (or maybe we should say trucks?) running on time. He got his start at SunCommon designing systems for roofs, back yards, and parking lots after years as a solar installer and Director of Operations in Massachusetts. Jake is a capable leader with a strong background in technical design and operations combined with a calm, clear communications style and creative problem solving. He is able to bring everything from procurement through installation and customer service together to work in harmony, making sure we deliver the best solar and battery systems safely and efficiently.

Having Jake and Mike at the helm of our leadership team comes at an important time for our industry. With big changes to federal energy tax credits coming at the end of this year, the solar industry has to be nimble to adapt. SunCommon remains focused on our mission to put solar within reach of everyone, and we’re exploring new financing models to ensure that this change at the federal level doesn’t prevent people from harnessing the sun for clean energy! Stay tuned- we’re excited to share details on the choices we’ll be providing for the Hudson Valley and Vermont homeowners.

“As we head into this new landscape for the solar industry, I’m so excited to be able to lead this company and our incredible team. SunCommon is well positioned to tackle 2026, and it’s an honor to usher in the next phase of clean energy for our communities,” said McCarthy.

Stocker added, “Getting solar and storage installed at homes and businesses is inherently complex, requiring careful decision-making and meticulous coordination at every step in the project cycle. The magic of this company is everyone’s dedication to excellence and collaboration. I am so proud to lead this team of outstanding professionals.”
