JOEL RHODES

Solar Community Organizer

Solar Community Organizers are the folks who are out and about educating and assisting Vermonters go solar, one town at a time.

Joel grew up in Central Pennsylvania and studied Environmental Resource Management at Juniata College. Passionate about environmental issues, he participated on the campus sustainability committee and was a sustainability coordinator for the college dining services. For several summers, he worked as a camp counselor and naturalist. Joel studied abroad in Ireland and then was a water quality research assistant at the University College Cork. After graduating college, he wanted to take time to give back through community service and moved to Vermont for the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board AmeriCorps program. He served at the non-profit Home Share Now to help promote home sharing as an affordable and creative housing option in Central Vermont. Joel also served as the Green Organization Coordinator for Downstreet Housing and Community Development to deepen their environmental commitment. Now at SunCommon, Joel is happy to help make solar an affordable reality for more Vermonters. In Joel’s spare time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, and traveling.
