EMILY MCMANAMY

Storyteller & Media Maven

Our Storytelling and Marketing team collects the stories behind our solar movement as we help Vermonters go solar. Our work connects our communities through photo, video, social media, print and the web. We love to share our story!

Before joining SunCommon, Emily spent 10 years as a newspaper photojournalist covering everything from breaking news to in-depth documentary pieces. Emily’s love for people and their stories developed into digital storytelling where she pursued video projects focused on social change. Emily wrapped up her newspaper career with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and is excited to bring her love of narrative to the renewable energy world. As native Vermonters, Emily and her husband feel profoundly lucky to have carved out a happy, healthy life for themselves, their son and their old mutt in their solar-powered home in the solar-powered town of Starksboro. Feeling the tug of the Green Mountains, Emily returned to Vermont after several years of professional pursuits and the completion of her photojournalism degree at Boston University. Emily is happiest outside with her kiddo, working in her gardens, hiking Mt. Abe or taking a dip in Vermont’s swimming holes.
